Pippa's Arrival
Welcome Pippa!

Our plan for a natural birth overseen by our wonderful midwife Vicky was not possible due to little Pippa's frank breech position. We tried everything to encourage the little monkey to do a flip and put herself in the best position for this wish to be realised.... external manipulation by the obstetrician, me sitting and lying in some pretty odd positions for blocks of time each day, acupuncture complete with piping hot charcoal sticks next to my little toes.... ah but she wasn't convinced.
So a C Section was recommended and Adrian and I headed off for the hospital on Wednesday 10th February as if we were on our way to a lunch date, very strange! The procedure was completed without a hitch, surreal way to deliver a baby! But we were more than happy with the outcome.... a solid 3.6 kg baby Pippa Natalie Mary Hanley delivered at 2:11pm.
sleeping beauty.... she didn't stay this way for long ;-)
sleeping beauty.... she didn't stay this way for long ;-) Let the fun begin! It took minutes for her to have everyone wrapped around her little fingers... the grand parents were all pleased and jockeying for cuddles.

After nine + months it was a pretty strange feeling for Adrian and I to actually finally have her here with us.
Feeling great on day two
she's so cute!
The upside of a c section birth at Tauranga Hospital is that you are allocated a private room complete with your own ensuite..... blissssssss. Seriously, don't think I could have had a better experience if I'd paid thousands of dollars to deliver in a private hospital or clinic. The staff were awesome and the facilities excellent.
Despite this it was brilliant to head home on Sunday 14th.... Valentine's Day and Pippa's actual due date. The following days have been a blur of nappies, photo opportunities (can one ever take enough?!), feeds and visitors.
A rare moment in which Pippa is not being cuddled!
Huge high fives must go out to our wonderful parents for feeding us, adoring Pippa, spoiling Pippa, cleaning the house, mowing lawns and generally making life easy so we could get to know our new addition.
Big thanks to those of you who have dropped by and have sent happy thoughts our way, we will catch up! In the meantime enjoy some pics and the lovely late summer (sorry Northern Hemisphere folk!) weather.
Lots of Love Carmel, Adrian and Pippa xxx
